Chlorophyll is the green colour pigment present in ghe plastids of the leaves which helps in performing photosynthesis. all green plants have chollophyll. it is the olny reason why leaves appear green in colours and it is neccesarilly required for photosynthesis

without it plants will not be able of perform photosynthesis because

it trap solar energy and converted it into chemical energy
