Inflammatory changes in the eye can be produced in rabbits by the intravenous injection of some pathogenic virulent strains of streptococci (especially Sc. liquefaciens). The conjunctiva, iris, ciliary body, choroid layer, cornea, and peribulbar tissues become involved. The changes are not related to enzymatic or antigenic effects.
