we know 'bout different different processes and methods to separate components from a mixture. like we use the process of evaporation to separate sugar or salt from it's solution. we use the process of winnowing to separate grains from husk and there are many other processes to separate from a given mixture..

chromatography is also a process of separating. it's a process to obtain pure substances or component from the give mixture. in this process. the mixture is separated in two different phases that are - stationary phase and mobile phase.

chromatography is derived from a greek word which means color.

this process is used for many purposes like :-

=> to separate different colors of a substance.

=> testing blood and drinks.

=> detecting food spoilage etc.
