Chromatography is a method used by scientists for separating organic and inorganic compounds so that they can be analyzed and studied. By analyzing a compound, a scientist can figure out what makes up that compound.Chromatography is a great physical method for observing mixtures and solvents.
Visit the Liquid Chromatography Principles page for a description of the methods used for liquid chromatography. Column chromatography. Protein I has a weak affinity for the stationary phase and passes through the column rapidly

Your answer is here
Chromatography is a technique for the separation of mixture by passing it in solution or suspension through a medium in which the components move at different rates.
Application of chromatography.
Chromatography is applied in testing water samples and also checks air quality
HPLC and GC are very much used for detecting various contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyl(PCBs) in pesticides and oils.
Hope it helps
