Answer:

Chromatography is a method of separating the constituents of a solution, based on one or more of its chemical properties. This could be charge, polarity, or a combination of these traits and pH balance.

USES

Pharmaceutical indindustry: In this field,(Includes Cosmetics and Herbal products too) it is mainly used to assertion purity of drugs. Identify impurities and develop chromatographic methods to quantify impurities.

Food and beverage industry: In this industry, it is used to majorly identify contaminants like pesticides content in beverages or heavy metal contents in water of food stuffs. (If you remember well recently we had pb content fiasco of maggi)

Forensic Labs: Here, chromayogrpahy is used to determine which fluids and compounds are present in human body after death or analyse blood samples to know whether he was poisoned to death etc. (Remeber the scenes which we see in movies/serials where they send samples for forensic testing!!)

Diagnostic Labs: In this Labs, we determine amount of drug present in blood, urine samples etc. You would be aware of dope tests where players are tested for banned steroids by WADA. (If you can remember the case of Russian athletes being banned from Rio 2016 case recently)
