Chromosomes are thread like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosomes is made of protein and single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid.

When the cell is dividing, the Cromatin fibre bucks up, becomes more condense and turns into thick thread like structures called Chromosomes.
