What is circular motion? is it acceleration motion or circular motion
Answers
The motion of a particle along a circular path is called circular motion.Circular motion of an object is accelerated motion.
- Uniform circular motion
- Non uniform circular motion.
➣ UNIFORM CIRCULAR MOTION :-
When a body moves in a circular path the direction of motion changes continously . So, even the body matains a constant speed the velocity is not constant since the direction changes continuously. Hence , the uniform circular motion is a motion in which the speed is constant and the velocity changes continuously .
➣ NON UNIFORM MOTION :-
The motion of a body along a circular path in which the both speed and velocity changes constantly is called Non uniform circular motion .
SOME TERMS RELATED TO CIRCULAR MOTION :-
➸ ANGULAR DISPLACEMENT :-
The angle swept by the radius vector from one position to other position is called Angular displacement .It is represented by θ . Units of angular displacement is radian denoted by rad
Angular displacement of a particle undergoing circular motion of radius 'r' is given by
Where ,
- S is Linear displacement (Length of the arc through which the body has moved )
- r is Radius
- θ is Angular displacement
➸ ANGULAR VELOCITY :-
Angular displacement per unit time is called Angular velocity . Units of Angular velocity are rad/sec. Angular velocity is denoted by ω (omega).
Angular velocity is given by ,
Where ,
- ω is Angular velocity
- θ is Angular displacement
- t is time
➸ ANGULAR ACCELERATION :-
Angular velocity per unit time is called Angular acceleration.Units of angular acceleration are rad/s² . Angular acceleration is denoted by α
Where ,
- ω is angular velocity
- α is Angular acceleration
- t is time
