a clause is comprised of a group of words which includes a subject and a finite verb. a clause contains only one subject and one verb.

TYPES OF CLAUSE:

INDEPENDENT CLAUSE

an independent clause functions on its own to make a meaningful sentence and looks much like a regular sentence.

example: he is a wise man

DEPENDENT CLAUSE

direct opposite to independent clause.

example:i know the man who stole the watch

Explanation:

Recognize a clause when you find one. Clauses come in four types: main (or independent), subordinate (or dependent), adjective (or relative), and noun. Every clause has at least one subject and one verb. Other characteristics will help you distinguish one type of clause from another.
