Clause is a group of words which have a complete meaning. For e.g., He is waiting outside.
Types of clauses are :
Main clause (Independent clause)
Subordinate clause (Dependent clause)
Main clause and Subordinate clause:
Let's define it with an example.
I saw a girl who was crying.
The above sentence has two clauses 'I saw a girl ' and ' who was crying '. The first clause has a complete meaning and can stand alone as a complete sentence. This clause is called main clause and the second one is the vice versa of the main clause . Thus, it is called subordinate clause.
Hope this helps you.
