A coalition government is a system of government that aims to limit each party 's supremacy in the "coalition." The common reason for this arrangement is that the electoral majority cannot be won by any party alone.

Explanation:

There are both advantages and disadvantages in coalition govt.

Advantages

  • As a result of representing a broader range of people and a vast range of views, coalition governments argue that they are more democratic and equitable.
  • The coalition govt offers supporters who are from other parties to be represented in the govt. If voters consider that smaller parties may be part of government and have an chance for political power, they would prefer to vote for a party which they consider& really believe  represents them instead of deciding between the two major parties
  • Coalition governance is involved with a broader spectrum of views; policies are more likely to be debated before it is introduced, with various opinions considered.

Disadvantages

  • Coalition governments can be viewed as less democratic because smaller parties can trade for more support than they have proportionally achieved.
  • Another problem with Coalitions is that pre-elections manifestos are largely irrelevant and unrealistic and are mostly the basis for earning the votes of the in the first place
  • Coalitions usually take a short-term view, since they are unable to count on being re-elect in the same way. A coalition government's main vulnerability is that they are dysfunctional and can go along without anything, because political parties can profoundly clash ideologically with each other.
