Coke is defined as the solid product resulting from the destructive distillation of coal in an oven or closed chamber or by imperfect combustion, consisting principally of carbon.

It is the greyish-black residue left after the destructive distillation of coal.

It is 98% Carbon.

Coke = Coal - ( Moisture + Volatile Matter)

\textbf{Uses }:

1. Used as a domestic fuel.

2. Used as a reducing agent in metallurgy.

3. Used for producing fuel gases like water has, producer gas.

4. Used for producing carbide, like Calcium carbide, Silicon carbide and Aluminum carbide.
