Collection of data is the first step in statistics toward achieving the goal on conclusion. There are different source of collection of data.

The two main types of data on the basis of collection are :-

• Primary Data

The data collected actually in the process of investigation by the investigator is known as primary data.

• Secondary Data

Data which is already collected by other person is called secondary data.        

e.g. As a investigator collects data related to industries through the government publications.
