When two bodies collide, they push each other. Hence, equal as well as opposite forces act on each of the two bodies. These forces are none other than the force of action and that of reaction. In figure (a), a body B while in motion, collides with a moving body A and exerts a force on A by B is the force of action. At the same point of time, the body A also exerts an equal and opposite force of reaction on body B. Finally, the bodies move apart after the collision.
