COLLOIDAL SOLUTION -
- A Solution in which the dispersed phase is mixed in dispersing medium.
- The particle size in colloidal solution ranges from 1 - metre.
- In colloidal solution, the particles of the dispersed phase remain in a suspended manner.
- The substance that is dispersed is known as the dispersion phase and in which it is dispersed is known as the dispersion medium.
- On the basis of physical state colloidal solutions can be Solid solutions, aerosols, gels, Emulsions.
- Based on dispersion medium, solutions can be alcosol, hydrosol, and acrosol.
- Based on interactive forces between the dispersed phase and dispersion medium are lyophilic and lyophobic sol.
- Example - Mud, milk, jelly, cream, dust, cheese, butter, smoke.
