colonial is a term which refers to a place that has been subjugated by another colony.

British period in India is described as colonial period as India did not enjoy equality, liberty and freedom, neither did she get economic or industrial and civilisation progress.

colonization is the process of subjugating one country by another country which affects the political, physical and socio-economic conditions of the subjugated country.

official records are the written records of administration by the British.

the British believed that the act of writing is very important. According to them every decision, interview, happenings, plans, surveys etc should be clearly written up in the form of official records for necessary study and debate for further administration. This made the British to take up official records.
