Colostrum:- " The milk secreted and produced by mammary glands during last days of pregnancy and a few early days after delivery of young one is termed as colostrum. "

Significance of colostrum :-

(1) Colostrum provides the immunity to young ones to protect against harmful microbes.

(2) The laxative effects of colostrum help the young ones to pass out their first feaces called meconium.

So colostrum ( of mother) is very important for the babies in their early life.

Hope it helps.
