In theory, under communism, all means of production are owned in common, rather than by individuals ( see Marxism and Marxism-Leninism). In practice, a single authoritarian party controls both the political and economic systems.
The Communist government in the form of government which runs the state based on ideology given by Karl Marx.

After the Industrial Revolution, society became more capitalist society in which only a handful of people owned the resources and rest majority of the people did not own anything.
This led two thinkers to write a pamphlet about it, they were Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels who wrote the famous ‘The Communist Manifesto’ in which they wanted a society in which there would be common ownership of resources and means of production and that there should be no class distinction, that is the haves and have - nots.
The government running on these principles of Marx and Engles is said to be a communists government. Such government existed in the former USSR, and now in China.
