  • In mathematics, a binary operation is commutative if changing the order of the operands does not change the result. It is a fundamental property of many binary operations, and many mathematical proofs depend on it.

Commutative Property

The subtraction of 2 different integers does not remain the same on changing the order in which these numbers are subtracted

In the other words , if x and y are two different integers x - y ≠ y - x

For example , for integers - 3 and 5 :

- 3 - 5 ≠ 5 - ( - 3)

Thus , we say that subtraction is not commutative for integers
