campact bone forms the outer layers of all bones . it is composed of many parallel , longitudinal column like structure called harvesian system , cemented to each other . haversion are connected to each other by volkmann canals, in each haversion system several concentric layers (lamaelle) of bony matrix encircle a longitudinal central canal (haversion canal) . these canal carries blood vessels and the nerves lacunae containing osteocytes occur in layer between two lamallae . the medullary cavity or marrow cavity within diaphysis of long bones contain fatty yellow bone marrow in adults.
