a complex number is in the form of a +ib , where a is real number and ib is the imaginary number. for example root of 9 can be valued as 3 but root of -9 can be valued with the imaginary number we can find the value of -9.

A complex number is an imaginary number and it is not real. It is expressed as a combination of a real part and an imaginary part as
a + i b where
1) a and b are real numbers (rational or irrational).
2) i = √-1 or i² = -1
The real number algebra is applied to complex numbers also. A real number cannot be equal to an imaginary number.
Examples are : 3 + 4 i , -2.6 + i √2
