The intestine is divided into two parts:

1). Small Intestine - It includes the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum

2). Large Intestine - It comprises of cecum, colon, and rectum.

Explanation:

The intestine is an important part of the human body, which extends from our stomach to the kidneys and is divided into two parts:

1). The small intestine: In the human body, the small intestine is divided into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.

  • - Duodenum - The first part of the small intestine that assists in breaking down the food.
  • - Jejunum - It lies between the Duodenum and Ileum and functions to absorb nutrients from the food.
  • - Ileum - The last and the longest division of the small intestine. It helps in further digestion by absorbing the nutrients that were left by Jejunum.

2). The large intestine: The large intestine is divided into the cecum, colon, and rectum.

  • - Cecum - A blind pouch connected to the large intestine between ileum and colon. It absorbs various fluids along with salts.
  • - Colon - The final segment of the large intestine. By absorbing the water in this part, the remaining waste is stored in the form of stool.
  • - Rectum - The last part of the area is the Rectum where the remains of the digested food are stored in the intestine until it is removed from the body in the form of feces.
