★ Composite fish culture :-
Composite fish culture or Composite fish farming is defined as the process of rearing different species of fish in the same pond or area( refers to the natural habitat where the fishes are grown). In this method, different species are selected on the basis of their food habits. Eg., surface feeders, bottom feeders etc.
● Advantages of composite fish culture :-
- There is no competition for food among the different species. This happens because different species have different positions for their nutrition or feeding.
- This method enhances the survival of all species within the pond.
- Increases the total yield of all the species.
● Disadvantages of composite fish culture :-
- Most of the fishes breed only during monsoons.
- If all the species lay eggs at the same time, this will create a problem in distinguishing the seeds.
- There will be decrease or deficit in pure quality breeds.
