A compound is a material formed by chemically bonding two or more chemical elements. The type of bond keeping elements in a compound together may vary: covalent bonds and ionic bonds are two common types. The elements are always present in fixed ratios in any compound. Example...water, CO² and table salt.

A stratified epithelium is a type of epithelial tissue that is composed of more than one layer of epithelial cells. The basal layer is the only one that is in contact with the basal lamina.

Answer:

Mulrilayered ( more than one cells ) .

Limited role in secretion and absorption .

Protects against mechanical and chemical stress .

On the basis of stretching ability ( 2 types ) :-

1) Transitional epithelium ( stretchable )

2) Stratified epithelium ( non - stretchable )

==> it is further divided into 3 parts :-

  • stratified squamous .

  • Stratified cuboidal .

  • stratified Columnar .
