What is compressibility factor, Z? How does it help to explain the behaviour of real gases with change in temperature?

Answer:

The extent to which real gases deviate from ideal behaviour is studied in terms of Z, called the compressibility factor.

             ie, Z=PV/RT

When Z>1 or Z<1, it is a real gas

When Z=1, it is an ideal gas
