The ration between solute to solvent or solute to the total amount of solution is called concentration. Concentration is usually taken as mass per unit volume. The amount of solute is also taken as in the form of moles or units of volume.

There are two types of concentration. It can be either" dilute" or "concentrated". Chemical solutions which contain the amount of solute in excess are called concentrated solutions. Whereas those solutions in which the amount of solute is less than the solvent are known as dilute solutions. The unit of concentration is g/cm3.
