  • The bond formed between two nonmetal atoms by equal sharing of electrons is called Covalent bond.
  • It is formed when two atoms attain their nearest noble gas configuration by sharing one or more electron pairs .
  • Each atom contributes equal number of electrons towards the bond formation.
  • For ex - The bond between two oxygen atoms ( \sf{O_2}) is covalent bond .

  • Each of the atoms should have 4,5,6 or 7 atoms in their Valence shells.
  • Two electrons are required to form a bond.
