the substances that conduct heat are called conductors of heat . they are mainly metals .

the substances which do not conduct heat (or electricity as well) are known as insulators

the major difference between the conductor and insulator is that conductor allows the energy (current or heat) to pass through it, whereas insulator does not allow to pass through it.
