Constipation can be defined as the irregular promotion of Bowel Movement which leads to problems in defication.
Explanation :-
Sometimes due to some unusual factors, the residuary matter which is left after the digestion of food, gets blocked for a long time in the large intestine of the alimentary canal.
The large intestine in order to serve it's purpose, absorbs all the water content from that residuary matter due to which, the waste matter becomes dry and hard, leading to difficulty in defication.
This difficulty is termed as "Constipation".
Problems caused due to constipation :-
- Difficulty in defication leads to the increase in pressure in the rectum.
- Due to the increase in pressure, the valves of the rectal veins get damaged and become weak.
- The weakening of the rectal valves leads to the swelling of rectal veins. This swelling is termed as "Piles".
- These "Piles" may rupture during defication which can lead to bleeding.
