There are some constituencies reserved for the people who belongs to the schedule caste and schedule tribes. The reasons for adopting such a system are the following-
This system of reserved constituencies makes our democracy a real representative democracy. If there would have not been this procedure than a very fer from the Schedule castes and schedule tribes would have been elected in the lok sabha due to lack of resources, education, contacts etc. These people were victims of discrimination for centuries. It is true that much has been improved but still there are many people who will not allow this people to win elections. If people belonging to the schedule castes and schedule tribes had not been elected ,Then or parliament and assemblies would have been deprived of the voice of a weaker section of the society.
values considered by the makers of our constitution behind this was equality and social welfare.
