continuous culture refers to such a culture of microbes in which the nutrient medium is continuously added to the culture vessel simultaneously removing the cell concentration such that the volume of medium remains constant. 
the continuous culture is thus is chemostat, and turbidostat. 
this type of culture is ideal for large scale production of metabolites.
