These three are the modes of heat energy transfer.

While conduction is the transfer of heat energy by direct contact, convection is the transfer of heat by actual movement of matter. Radiation is the transfer of heat energy by electromagnetic waves.

CONVECTION = Heat transfer in which heat is carried from the hotter part of a substance to its colder part by actual movement of hot particles is called convection. In case of convection, there is actual movement of molecules seen. These mobile molecules carry heat energy with them.

CONDUCTION = the Process of transfer of heat from a hotter end to the colder end of an object is called conduction. Conduction can be thus defined as the transfer of heat from one object to another one that has different temperature qhen in contact. The transfer of heat by conduction takes place in all the three states of matter - solid, liquid and gases.

RADIATION = The mode of transmitting heat that requires no medium is called radiation. This heat is transmitted in the form of electromagnetic waves. All object radiate heat in space.
