corrosion is a natural process, which convert refined metals to a more stable chemical form such as it's oxides,h hydroxide or sulphide.I this the gradual destruction of materials by chemicals and other electrochemical reaction with their environment.Erosion by chemical action

Explanation:

It is the process of oxidative deterioration of a metal surface by the action of substances present in environment to form unwanted corrosion products. In other words, it is the process of formation of oxide or other salts on the surface of a metal it is exposed to the atmosphere.

Ex:- Conversion of iron into rust [Fe2O3.xH2O]

Corrosion of iron is called rusting. It is accelerated by the presence of impurities, H+ electrolytes such as NaCl, gases such as CO2, SO2, NO, NO2 etc.

It is prevented by the following methods :-

1. By electroplating.

2. By surface coating.

3. By allowing.

4. By galvanisation of iron.

5. By anodising.
