CORROSION :

This process commonly known as rusting of iron. The black coating on silver and the green coating on copper are other examples of corrosion.

Effects of corrosion -

(i) It causes damage to car bodies, bridges, ships, and other objects made of metals, specially those that are made up of iron.

(ii) It is a wasteful process in many cases, as every year tons of various especially iron  get wasted in the country.
