the slow degradation of metals when it comes in contact with the moisture in the atmosphere forming chlorides and sulphides of metals is known as corrosion

gold ornaments do corrode but it is very very slow it take a lot of time to get corroded as it comes in the very bottom of reactivity series it may take many years to get corroded it do not get corroded easily

its the process in which metals decay/destruct themselves gradually with the outside interactment.
gold doesn't corrode because it doesnt really react with oxygen
