corrosion is the irreversible damage or destruction of living tissue or material due to a chemical or electrochemical reaction. Example of corrosion is rusting of iron or steel

→ The process of slow eating up of metals by gases and water vapours present in atmosphere due to the formation of certain compounds like oxides , sulphides , carbonates etc is called corrosion.

→ Example :- Rusting of Iron (Fe converts to its oxide).
