Cos,Sin & Tan  are within the field of  trigonometry.

In any right angled triangle, for any angle:

  Sin=opposite side/hypotenuse

Cos = adjacent side/hypotenuse

Tan =opposite side/ adjacent side

iN A RIGHT ANGLE TRIANGLE
sin = perpendicular/hypotenuse
cos = base /hypotenuse
tan = perpendicular/base
