Cricket's origin is unknown but according to expert opinion it was maybe created at the time Saxon or Norman times by children living in the Weald.
The cricket have originated in south-east England in the late 16th century and became England's national sport in the 18th century. Cricket has evolved worldwide in the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 1844, International matches have been played.
The international governing body of cricket is the International Cricket Council. In International Cricket Council, there are over one hundred members notwithstanding only ten play Test cricket.
There are different forms of cricket but there are three major forms of cricket:-
i) Test Cricket
ii) One Day Internationals (ODIs)
iii) Twenty20 (T20)
The first ever international cricket game was between the USA and Canada at the grounds of the St George's Cricket Club in New York in 1844. The first ever Test match began on 15 March 1877 between England and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The first ODI was played on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The first ever T20 match was played on 13th June, 2003 between Durham and Nottinghamshire at Chester-le-Street.
