curved surface area is the area of outer surface of an object without it's top and bottom side. for example a hollow cylinder.

curved surface area(csa) is the the area excluding the top layer of any solid object
example: in cube excluding the top and bottom layer the remaining area is csa .
note : in case of sphere we can't specify top and bottom layer so in this case we should consider the csa as total surface area.
