Custom animation is a feature in PowerPoint that allows users to add movement and other special effects to their presentations. To use custom animations, click the Animations tab at the top of the screen and browse through the available effects. Effects vary depending on the version of PowerPoint.

Indicate the slide with text or objects to apply animation to in Normal view.
Select the object to apply animation to, and then click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Click Add Effect on the Custom Animation task pane on the right, and select animation effects as follows.
- To display text or objects in the slide show with animation effects applied, click Entrance and then select one of the following Entrance effects.
- To add effects to the text or objects on the slide, point to Emphasis, and then select one of the following Emphasis effects.
- To apply an effect making text or an object disappear from the slide at a specific time, point to Exit and then select one of the following Exit effects.
- To add an effect making an object move in a specific way, point to Motion Paths, and then select one of the following motion paths.
If you select an effect under Add Effect, a preview of how the animation is moving will be displayed on the editing window.
If you set Effect, Properties, Start, and Speed will be enabled. The property of the animation is specified under Properties, when the animation is played is set under Start, and the playing speed of the animation is specified under Speed. Properties content is displayed differently depending on the selected animation effects.
Animation is displayed whenever Properties, Start, and Speed are set. Objects with animation applied will appear on the Custom Animation list.
If there are two or more objects with animation effects applied, the Re-Order arrow right under the animation list box will be enabled. If you select an object from the list and then click the up and down arrows, you can change the order of the objects to the front of the back.
Click the Play button to see the animation effect you set on the edit screen.
Click the Slide Show button to preview the show from the slide with the animation effect.
