Hey!!

It is a device to accelerate charged particles such as α- particles, protons and deutrons. It consists of two hollow dees placed in a perpendicular magnetic field with a little gap between them. A radio frequency potential difference is applied across the dees. For acceleration of charged particles, the resonance potential is:

" The frequency of revolution of charged particles must be equal to the frequency of radio frequency voltage source ".

The frequency of revolution of the particles is f = qB/2πm

Where B is the magnetic field inside the dees, q is the charge on the particle and m is it's mass.

The frequency is called "cyclotron frequency".

Energy gained per revolution = 2qV

Energy gained in n-revolution, E = 2nqV = B^2q^2R^2 / 2m, where R is radius of dee.

GOOD LUCK !!
