Cytisine is a plant-based alkaloid found inthe seeds of the golden rain tree (Cytisus laburnum). It is a partial agonist of nicotine acetylcholine receptors. It works similar to thedrug varenicline (Chantix) and has been available in Eastern Europe since the 1960s.
