Cytotaxonomy

Cytotaxonomy is a study that deals with the characterisation and classification of organisms based on their chromosomes during meiosis.

Chromosomes are structures that contain the DNA thread packed inside them. This DNA is tightened using certain proteins namely the histone proteins. The Chromosomes are present in the form of chromatin in a cell during normal times whereas at times of cell division the 23 pairs of chromosomes get visible.
