DDT stand for Dichlorophenyltrichloroethane.

It was discovered by Paul Muller who also got Noble prize for the same.

It was a widely used insecticide.

It is environment hazardous as it is not metabolized in animals and gets deposited in the fatty tissues .

It is responsible for bio magnification in food chain

Dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane-

Non-water soluble chlorinated hydrocarbon in use since Second World War as an insecticide for the control of lice (that spread typhus) and mosquitoes (that spread malaria and yellow fever). But its primary use was in agriculture to control plant pests, specially those affecting cotton and tobacco.
