It is plaster that has been heated to a high tempeature to tahe all the water crystallisation out of and is known as anhydrous plaster.

when the gypsum is heated at 393 K temperature then the water in that gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O) evaporated and the it turns in anhydrous calcium sulphate and this anhydrous calcium sulphate is known as Dead burnt plaster.
