When the Gypsum is heated at 393 K, at any temperature above it will cause the water to get liberated to form anhydrous calcium sulphate which is known as dead burnt plaster. And this is how it is obtained from gypsum.

Dead burnt plaster is an anhydrous form of calcium sulphate.
It is formed by heating gypsum at a very high temperature of 393 Kelvin or more. Dead burnt plaster is a superior form of plaster than normal gypsum.
It has a harder and more resistant finish. It is used in places of high traffic and friction. Sometimes it requires some setting agent where it has been used in to give a plaster finish.
