➽ The debate aims at testing :-

  • The ability of the speaker to present his views boldly.

  • The speaker's skill to persuade others to his viewpoint.

  • Give a quotation/Make a dramatic opening.
  • Address the audience.
  • Introduction.
  • State your stand in favour or against the motion.

Development/Exposition :-

  • Present your case with arguments.
  • Give supporting facts and figures, news-item, quotation, etc.
  • Counter the arguments of your opponents by referring to his/their speeches.

Conclusion :-

  • Give your own opinion. Strike a note of warning, make an appeal or express a doubt or fear.
  • The end should be dramatically effective.
  • Say 'Thank you' at the end.
