Decantation is a process to separate two mixtures. We just allow two immiscible liquids to stand for a while the liquid having more density settles at the bottom  due to the effect of gravity after which they are separated.

krazykakacookie: Can this method be used for two liquids that are immiscible?
superiortanu12378: Ya..this is used only for immiscible liquids...not for miscible
krazykakacookie: Thx so much
superiortanu12378: Welcome dear..
