Decentralization is the process of redistributing or dispersing functions, powers, people or things away from a central location or authority. Bitcoin is a decentralized Peer-to-Peer network that does not rely on a central authority.

The three major forms of administrative decentralization -- deconcentration, delegation, and devolution -- each have different characteristics.

Important -

Decentralisation helps the managers at the lower levels to take all those decisions, which are for the betterment of organisation, on their own and to develop solutions for solving the various problems they face. This helps in enhancing confidence and self-reliance among the employees.

Answer:

When power is taken away from Central and state govt and given to local governments it is called Decentralization.

There was a need to have a third tier of govt in our country because :

❤️ India is a vast country and there are a large number of problems and issues which are best settled at the local level.

❤️ People have better knowledge of problems in their localities.

❤️ They also have better ideas as where to spend money and how to manage things efficiently.

❤️ Local government is the best way to realise the principles of democracy called Local self governed.
