The decline of feudalism occurred due to a number of events which occurred during the Medieval era of the Middle Ages. Feudalism was based on the division of land by the king to nobles and vassals in return for their military service under the Feudal Levy.

Feudalism, with it's pattern from the king down to the serfs, was based on the concept of services. This system of obligation was thus opposed to progress.
The economic focus shifted from agriculture to commerce, the tradders became prosperous.
The hundred years war and the war of roses led to the gradual decline of the feudal system, it conducive for renaissance to flourish during this period.
