Defection is changing party allegiance from the political party from which a

person got elected to a different party. In order to bring down the number of

defection cases, the Constitution of India has been amended. Now, according

to the law, if an MP or MLA changes parties, he or she will lose the seat in the legislature.

defection was a practice which was adopted by many MLA or MP's when their party did not win the election they used to shift to another party which won in the election this practice was a demerit and was needed to be reformed and fall the that the government make the anti-defection law which restricts any party member to change parties and if he she does that then the seat all the office he see holds will be taken back
